In the fall of 2000, Renee Keener, after a decade in the paper converting business, began searching for diversification. Established on September 11, 2001, Renee Keener’s new company was born in the midst of the creation of a new era for America – hence the name American Document Securities.
American Document Securities’ first purchase was an on-site shred truck equipped with an Allegheny mobile shredder and has since grown into a full-service records management center. Shredding, storage, imaging, and data vaulting is the driving focus, nothing else. The records storage department was established in February of 2003.
American Document Securities, Inc. began on a wing and a prayer. Hit by the recession of 2000, the first company she helped develop was struggling. Armed with the task of finding a diversification for the company, the idea came from an equipment broker in Indiana, who told her of his knowledge of the industry. Research showed her that the records management industry was viable and productive and nine months later, she had purchased a 26-foot box truck equipped with a small shredder inside and drove it home from Pittsburgh herself!
In the spring of 2004 Renee submitted her company to the Georgia Women’s Business Council for the coveted approval and certification process and In October of 2004, ADS became a Certified Woman Owned Business and is also a Certified SBA Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB). Her most coveted accomplishment was the interaction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation – she became the first company in the State of Georgia to become an “approved vendor” to work off-site for the Georgia Crime & Information Center, which is controlled by the GBI. A year-long process established a close relationship with law enforcement all over the state and has paved the way for vendors all over to jump into the process as well.
The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce chose Renee as their first recipient of the Carroll County Entrepreneur of the Year award in November 2006. American Document Securities, Inc. is a AAA Certified member of NAID, the National Association for Information Destruction, an international trade association which sets the standards and ethics of its member companies.
American Document Securities has continued to grow and add services. We offer records management, consulting and document imaging, data vaulting and a new line of electronic document management software call PSIsafe. Medical waste is another field in her pocket with the creation of Med Dog Waste Management. In response to new laws and need for organizations to provide required training; ADS conducts regulatory compliant Employee Information Protection & Destruction Training and HIPAA / HITECH Information Protection & Destruction training for medical practices, hospitals and other businesses that work with Protected Health Information (PHI).
Our company motto is, “Our business is keeping your business, your business” and we all truly believe it!
