It seems strange, but it’s true. Atlanta’s leader in the destruction of sensitive paper documents has become a leader in … paperless electronic document management software.
But dig a little deeper, and it makes a lot of sense – both for American Document Securities and many satisfied clients.
Renee Keener founded the Georgia-based company in 2001 as a document destruction service. Over the following decade, the shredding firm grew from humble beginnings – “me, two other guys and one truck; we didn’t have two nickels to rub together,” Keener said – to offer records storage, scanning services, data services and consulting.
Success was neither quick nor easy, but years of hard work by Keener and her team positioned ADS as a records management leader in Atlanta and throughout Georgia. Last year, ADS decided to take the next step, making electronic document management software available to both existing and new clients.
“I know it sounds strange that a company that specializes in shredding paper is selling software that makes you paperless,” Keener said. “But we look at it as records management, and that’s what we do. If it’s a record, we can manage it for you – that’s what we specialize in. EDMS is just an updated, electronic form of what we do with paper.”
Keener explored a number of potential EDMS partners. Eventually, one rose to the top: Cabinet Document Management Solutions, Alabama-based makers of industry-leading electronic document management software.
“We wanted to ensure we were offering our clients only the best paperless office software, so we did our homework,” Keener said. “Cabinet’s references put the icing on the cake for me. They said Cabinet SAFE is a great product, but the thing their clients enjoy most is the customer service from Cabinet. When you call, you get what you need – an immediate answer, or somebody calling back. That made Cabinet the whole package deal for us.”
Though ADS has only been offering Cabinet software for a short time, the company’s clients are already loving it. Keener described one customer as “giddy” about the Cabinet system’s ease of use.
“We did a demo recently for a company in Atlanta, and they had a lot of questions – as well they should,” Keener said. “We and the Cabinet software were able to answer all of them. It’s a product we can truly stand behind, and that’s important to us.
Not too long ago, ADS was focused on helping customers destroy paper. Now, thanks to Cabinet electronic document management software, it’s helping them go paperless. And things are working out just fine.
“The fact I’m using it in my own office is a pledge to the quality of SAFE software,” Keener said. “I’m able to use my experience with the software to truthfully tell clients and prospects how it has revolutionized our office. Simply put, you can save everything in one place, and find it all. The software speaks for itself.”
