Secure and Ethical Document and Media Recycling
American Document Securities, Inc. takes very measured steps to protect our environment and will continue to do so no matter what the cost. One of the reasons we do not offer on site shredding is because of the environment. When the customer is educated about the process, we feel that our customers will agree with us.
The on site process goes like this: the diesel truck pulls up to your door, brings out your confidential documents in an open environment; revs up the engine for an hour to the highest point and destroys your documents. What does that do to the air quality? You may say, well your trucks are diesel too. Yes but we don’t sit at your door for an hour belching out toxic fumes just to destroy your paper.
We choose to bring it back to our facility, and destroy it in a close environment which also is much safer in our professional opinion. Our media is taken to an incinerator, not a dump—even after it is destroyed at our facility. This does cost our company more at that stage, but we feel that we will get our return with clean water and air. Our owner is proud of our efforts to recycle and will make sure every avenue is taken to insure that it is done properly.
Recycling is Great, but . . .
Please understand the difference between ADS and a recycling company.
We specialize in protecting the integrity of the confidential documents we are responsible for even after it is destroyed. Our paper process is a closed loop process—we can track our paper from the time it is picked up to the pulping process. This loop ensure the safety of your destroyed materials, but it also helps save money and improve our environment! ADS takes great steps to screen our employees even to the point of requiring fingerprinting upon employment.
Recycling companies on the other hand, have no responsibilities to you with your paper. Paper prices are at a premium today, and so all they want is the paper and may even take it off at no cost to you. But it will be a cost to you in the long run! They use unscreened, underpaid wage workers in an unsecured environment to sort the paper for selling. Your documents could lay in their warehouse for months until it is sold, without being completely destroyed. Their claim to destruction is an auger, which only breaks the paper down for baling.
Our service completely destroys the document and protects you with a notarized certificate of destruction which gives you an exact date of destruction. This is extremely vital in a legal situation where litigation or an audit is pending. The way you decide to destroy your confidential documents shows due diligence and therefore shows that you are doing all you can to protect the confidential nature of the information in your trust. It is a risk management topic and should be treated as such.
Should your company need a paper recycling container along with the secure containers, we can provide it for you!
